The Observational Effects on the Preference of Children with Autism

Abstract:
Children with autism spectrum disorder may play with limited objects or toys, making it difficult for interventionist to identify reinforcers to use when teaching a new skill. In this presentation, Dr. Leaf will describe a study in which the researchers conditioned novel items to become preferred items for three autistic individuals. Dr. Leaf will describe the details and results of the study and provide clinical implications for those who work with autistic individuals.
